The fair relationships we have with our producers put people first and help ensure economic stability for small farming businesses. We believe beauty goes beyond what the eye can see. L’OCCITANE works directly with over 130 producers and 10,000 pickers - from the immortelle fields of Corsica to the lavender fields of Provence - to ensure that the ingredients we use are of the highest quality and sourced as sustainably as possible.

• L’OCCITANE prioritises traditional and organic farming practices, ensuring the health of the soil and enhancing biodiversity.

100% of L’OCCITANE’s immortelle, verbena, shea, and cade crops are organic, reducing agricultural emissions and promoting soil health.

• We have preserved and protected over 1,662 varieties and species of plants as part of its biodiversity commitment.

• We work with nature preservation charities to plant native trees, install beehives, and introduce new animal species.

• The brand sources over 200 botanical ingredients, many of them organically certified, carefully selected for their effectiveness.

• L’OCCITANE sources shea butter directly from fair trade-certified women’s cooperatives in Burkina Faso and Ghana.

We are proud to share Over the past four years, L'OCCITANE has been working with HOMETREE, donating over €222,000 to restore and protect natural forests.

Reducing Our Environmental Impact

L’OCCITANE is reducing its environmental impact through the ambitious “Reduce, Recycle, React” multi-pronged programme, aimed at minimising waste, and through waste reduction measures implemented in our factories in France.

• The brand offers eco-refills saving 200 tons of plastic each year.

• In 2023, L’OCCITANE launched new eco-refills that are 100% recyclable and made of 100% recycled plastic.

• By 2025, all L’OCCITANE bottles will be made from 100% recycled plastic, and all plastic packaging will be recyclable, reusable, or compostable.

• L’OCCITANE operates a closed-door policy in all boutiques to reduce energy consumption.

• The brand uses 96% renewable electricity across its UK and Irish estate, which will become 100% by 2025.

• Since 2023, L'OCCITANE is proud to offset its carbon footprint for our UK & Ireland online orders and returns. So far, 60 tonnes of CO2e have been offset through our partnership with Ecologi by supporting the Delta Blue carbon removal project in Pakistan.

• L’OCCITANE offers a recycling scheme in all UK company-owned stores, allowing customers to drop off empty beauty products from any brand for full recycling.

• 18 of L’OCCITANE’s retail stores across the UK & Ireland have Refill Fountains installed enabling customers to re-fill containers/bottles they already have or use Forever Bottles, made of recycled aluminium.

• Did you know? L’OCCITANE have never used plastic bags!

Since 1976, L’OCCITANE’s philosophy has remained unchanged: people and nature matter. The brand cares for people and shows this through the work of its dedicated teams. Thanks to their actions, the brand has been supporting women’s entrepreneurship in Burkino Faso and helping new parents as they navigate important new chapters in their lives.

• L’OCCITANE has been purchasing fair trade-certified shea butter from female producers in Burkina Faso since the 1980s, supporting and diversifying their activities to increase profitability for the women and maintain the sustainability of the shea parklands

The Foundation focuses on education, occupational training, and entrepreneurship for women, with an emphasis on environmental and social factors.

EDUCATING girls through two main educational projects, one in partnership with the NGO Aide & Action and the second with UNICEF

Occupational TRAINING: the Foundation supports the NGO Empow’Her’s BLOOM project, helping women to access the job market through training in artisanal trades that support and respect the environment

ENTREPRENEURSHIP through three main projects supported by the L’OCCITANE Foundation: 1. Socioeconomic training and access to microcredits through a program developed by Entrepreneurs du Monde 2. A sustainable agricultural entrepreneurship project put together by Green Hope and Les Amis de la Fabrique. Helping women in rural areas become agricultural entrepreneurs by improving their technical skills and giving them financial support and new market access. 3. The ‘L’OCCITANE pour Elles’ competition was launched by the brand in 2016 to give visionary female business leaders technical and financial support in their business activity or creation.

• 2020 marked the unveiling of L’OCCITANE’s new global parental leave policy, which gives primary caregivers a minimum of 20 weeks’ fully paid leave and secondary caregivers a minimum of 12 weeks’ fully paid leave to bond with their new child – whether the child is welcomed by birth or through adoption or surrogacy.

• L’OCCITANE introduced new policies to support women within the business, including menopause support, fertility journey support, and pregnancy loss support.

• The brand is a Real Living Wage employer, positively impacting the financial stability of its employees.
