What's the right way to remove makeup effectively? Removing makeup completely is crucial for healthy skin, as little traces of makeup that stay on the skin can cause irritation, blemishes and blackheads. Milk, oil, water, foam or jelly, how do you know which texture to go for? Discover all our tips for properly cleaning and removing makeup off your face.

A Cleanser for Every Skin Need

At L'OCCITANE, each of our products are designed to meet a specific need. We have developed a diversified range to allow each woman to remove makeup according to her skin type. Our innovative formulas cleanse the face and, for some, the lips and eyes, even if your skin is sensitive. They are all tested under dermatological and ophthalmological control.

Dry Skin

If you have dry skin, go for a creamy texture. Our Cleansing Milk is made for you. Its rich and creamy texture purifies your skin, while providing it with a first layer of hydration.

Another advantage of our Cleansing Milk, is that it can be applied to the face, eyes and lips!

Stubborn Makeup

When using waterproof or long-lasting makeup, opt for an oily texture like that of our Organic Cleansing Oil-To-Milk.

Just as its name suggests, the Oil-to-Milk transforms from a silky smooth oil into a milky emulsion when it comes into contact with water. And while it's gentle on the skin, it's tough on make-up, removing even stubborn and waterproof make-up, along with any impurities.

Oily & Combination Skin

Oily or combination skin requires a light formula, like that of micellar water or cleansing gels. The Cleansing Gel-to-Foam infused with Cucumber and Thyme eliminates the impurities accumulated throughout the day (including excess sebum, traces of makeup), without drying and moisturises the skin.

This is the first step that invigorates and preps your skin for the products that follow.

The Importance of Double Cleansing

Inspired by the beauty rituals of the women of Korea, double-cleansing deeply purifies your skin, leaving it radiant and clean, clean without feeling tight or dry.

The routine consists of two steps:

  1. Use an oil-based cleanser to breakdown makeup and lift excess oil from your skin. This step is particularly important if you use SPF or live in an area with high air pollution.
  2. Use a water-based cleanser to remove residual daily pollutants and prepare your skin for your toner and moisturiser.

Makeup Removal in Your Beauty Routine

Makeup removal is the essential first step in your daily ritual. It prepares the skin to receive the following treatments.

For ecological reasons, we advise you to prefer reusable cottons for products that cannot be applied by hand. If the makeup remover you've chosen requires rinsing, use cold water. Then dry your face with a towel, patting gently.

Once your skin has been properly cleaned, you can move on to applying your serum or cream. Your skin is beautiful, clear and supple! Your complexion is fresh and radiant! Don't forget to scrub once or twice a week.
